Monique taught primary grades in New York City public schools for several years before joining the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project as a literacy staff developer.  She has worked at the Project for nine years supporting teachers in the tri-state area, across the country and internationally.  Monique most enjoys coaching with fellow coaches, administrators and teachers in lab site classrooms as a way to give hands-on and practical support.  She has co-authored the 2nd grade Unit of Study book entitled, Lab Reports and Science Books.

Christy left the classroom after nine years, kicking and screaming, when Mary Osborne (one of her best friends and mentors), asked her to join her as a district writing staff developer. In her eleven years working with Pinellas County School District, she worked with The Poynter Institute in summer writing camps for students and teachers.   Christy then became a literacy staff developer for the Reading and Writing Project at Teachers College. She has worked for eight years at the Project, working with teachers in the tri-state area, across the country and internationally.  She also received her masters degree from Teachers College, Columbia University. She desperately misses the classroom, but fortunately she is with kids almost everyday so is still able to get those hugs.  (And everyone once in a while, she gets a hug from a teacher!) Which is why she is still working on becoming the best literacy consultant she can be.

If you are interested in having Christy come to your school for a speaking engagement or to work with your teachers, please contact her at Christy.J.Curran@gmail.com.
